This blog would cover every period of design since the 184's till today. I will be posting several pictures as an example of each period of design. 
The first period that I have chosen is The Victorian Age. 
As most of you now I have already posted a couple of pages that gives detail about the motifs of the period and it's typography.
Is really importnat as a designer to recognize styles and where they come from. The Victorian Style has been applied to many different subjects over the years.
Now a days we can find them in fashion, furniture, interiors, commercial arts, and many more.

VICTORIAN STYLE

ARTS AND CRAFTS

As we can see the Artas and Crafts period of design was a period of Romantic Idealization. Every artist took pride in his personal handwork. 

This period of design is considered as a bride between the Victorian Style and Modernism.

These examples show patterns, that were really common in the period. also show complexity and craftsmanship.

THE ART NOUVEAU

The Art Nouveau 
Was a period that lasted from 1860 till 1928. It had influences from the celtic ornament, the Arts and Crafts period, it was asian inspired. 

Some of the pictures that I have selected as an example show how the Art Nouveau had a great influence in product design, and architecture.
the peacock figure was also really popular during this period. It was something different, so it portraits this new art at its best.

EARLY MODERN

The Early Modern period comes as the influence of different movements that appeared over the years. Some of them are the Cubism, Futurism, Dada, Surrealism, and Expressionism. 
This period lasts from the 1894 till 1939.


Everything that stared in this period began with the impressionist artist.

ART DECO

It appears from 1925 till the 1939. 

Bright colors, metal lines and modern objectivity make this period the period of speed.

machines are the main center of veneration. 

Geometry for this period of design was very important. Strait lines, and egyptian figures are a good way to see that the piece belongs to this period of design. this was very popular in buildings, furniture and jewelry. 

AMERICAN KITSH

This period was the pure 50's in America, overly sentimental and most of the style was cartoonish. this was the era of the motel sign. 

SWISS/ NEW INTERNATIONAL

LATE MODERNISM

This period appears in 1925 till the 1970's. It is inspired by the Early Modern period of design.
